Canada Life Group Benefits and Savings Access Agreement
To complete the registration process, you must read and agree to the following terms and conditions, as well as the Accessibility Policy, Privacy Policy and Internet Security Statement.
The online information and services available to you via the Canada Life Group Benefits and Savings website are governed by this agreement. We’ll further refer to this agreement as the "Agreement" and to this website as the "Site."
Please read these terms and conditions carefully, as by registering for the Site, you will be deemed to have agreed to them. The terms and conditions of this Agreement are subject to change without notice to you, so we recommend that you review them regularly. If you do not agree with the terms and conditions set forth in this Agreement, do not register for the Site.
By registering for the Site, you are also confirming that the information that you have entered to confirm your identity in the registration process belongs exclusively to you and that you are only registering your own account.
The Site is provided to you by The Canada Life Assurance Company referred to as "Canada Life".
Access and use of the site
- You’re authorized to access and utilize the Site solely for informational and educational purposes, and for transacting business with Canada Life. In order to register, you must have reached the minimum prescribed age in the jurisdiction in which you live.
- You agree not to, or allow others to, attempt or actually disrupt, impair or interfere with, alter or modify the Site or any of its content – either directly or indirectly.
- If you’re accessing the Site on behalf of another party, you confirm you’re authorized to do so. You agree that you will be liable and will indemnify and hold harmless Canada Life, its affiliates, and each of their respective directors, officers, employees and agents, in the event the party you’re acting on behalf of claims you didn’t have such authority or the information you submitted was inaccurate.
- You may not misuse the Site in any way, including breaching or otherwise circumventing any security or authentication measures. You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Canada Life against any costs, losses, expenses, damages, legal fees, liabilities, claims, demands, actions and settlement amounts resulting from or in any way related to your misuse of the Site. You agree to give Canada Life the full control and discretion over any such defence and settlement.
The site's terms of use
- Canada Life provides you with access to the Site through the networks of third-party telecommunications providers and through other suppliers and third parties.
- Canada Life assumes no responsibility for security of your facilities or networks, nor for unauthorized access to facilities or networks. In all cases you’re responsible for determining and establishing secure network access configurations.
- Canada Life, its affiliates, and each of their respective directors, officers, employees and agents, for any inability, failure or mistake related to any security breach or identification of such breach. Likewise, Canada Life isn’t liable for any loss resulting from the transmission of confidential or sensitive information over the Internet.
- The Site contains links to or may be accessed from other sites that aren’t maintained or controlled in any way by Canada Life and are provided for convenience only. Canada Life isn’t responsible for any of these sites or their content.
- These links aren’t an endorsement by Canada Life of the products, services, advice or opinions or any other content of such sites.
- Similarly, any information or transaction accessed, transmitted or performed through the Site which is related to any third-party product or service shall be subject to any terms, conditions or restrictions applicable to such product or service.
- Canada Life may use third-party service providers to provide certain tools and/or programs, some of which may be housed on a third-party server or a website independently developed by others. Therefore, while using the Site, you may be linked to third-party servers and Canada Life may share your information with them.
- Access or use of sites to which links are provided and of sites that link to the Site, including the use of any third-party tools or programs on the Site are subject to all terms and conditions that dictate their use and are at your own risk.
- Group retirement, savings and income products and investments as described in the Site are issued by Canada Life. Where applicable, Canada Life also acts as agent for the trustee, Investors Group Trust Co. Ltd.
Use of email address and password
- Upon registration, you will select an email address and password which constitutes your electronic signature ("Electronic Signature") when you use the Site. You acknowledge and agree that your Electronic Signature is the legal equivalent to your written, signed instructions and you authorize Canada Life, any of its affiliates, or any other third-party as applicable, to execute any instructions which are provided by your Electronic Signature.
- You agree to take appropriate security measures to protect the confidentiality of your Electronic Signature, including those listed below in the "Your responsibility" section of this Agreement, and to prevent any misuse of your information. You agree to notify Canada Life immediately if the confidentiality of your email address or password has been compromised or if there has been unauthorized use of your Electronic Signature.
- You agree that the web pages you access will constitute written documents. This means when you follow online instructions and click or otherwise electronically activate "accept", "register", "submit", "continue", "ok" or any other similar buttons on such pages, except as otherwise specifically indicated, these carry the same legal effect as if you had signed and delivered hard copy versions of the documents to Canada Life.
- Canada Life will not be required to verify the actual identity or authority of any user of your Electronic Signature. You agree to be liable and hold Canada Life harmless for any loss caused as a result of or in connection with: (i) any authorized use of your Electronic Signature, and (ii) any unauthorized use of your Electronic Signature that results from your failure to protect the confidentiality of your Electronic Signature, including but not limited to any transaction performed, or information obtained through such use.
Your responsibility
You have an important role to play in ensuring your login information is kept safe.
- Your password must be kept confidential; do not share it with anyone and take precautions that no one can see your login information when logging in.
- Do not create a password that would be obvious or easy to guess (e.g., '12345' or 'password').
- Memorize your password. If you must record it on paper, keep it in a safe location and do not store your email address and password together.
- Change your password from time to time.
- Do not leave your computer or other electronic device unattended when you are logged in. Always sign off if you are going to be away from your computer or other electronic device, even for short periods of time.
- Email is not encrypted; therefore, it is not recommended that you send any personal or confidential information to Canada Life or any third-party by email (e.g. password, claims information).
Calculators, recommendations and projections
- The calculators, recommendation and projections provided by the Site help you to identify and reach your financial goals. They are based on the information provided by you, your plan sponsor and other institutions with your consent. Inaccuracy in the information provided will negatively affect the accuracy of the calculators, recommendations and projections provided.
- Calculators, recommendations and projections are provided for general illustrative purposes only and are not warranted to be accurate or complete. You should update your information regularly to ensure that the information is as accurate as possible.
- While the underlying assumptions for the projections, recommendations and calculators are carefully developed (specific details of the assumptions are provided and you should review them to ensure you agree with them), future performance cannot be guaranteed or predicted with certainty, and as such, calculators, recommendations and projections cannot be guaranteed, and Canada Life makes no representations, warranties or guarantees in respect to them. Even if you save the suggested amount, and follow all recommendations, you may run out of money in retirement or fail to meet your goal. Ensuring you have enough money to meet your needs in retirement is your sole responsibility.
- Recommendations for investment choices are recommendations only and are based on your risk profile developed in the Site. You retain sole responsibility for the selection of your investments, and should fully investigate the options available to you, including their associated fees, before making your decision.
- Information regarding the underlying holdings of segregated funds is for illustrative purposes only, the actual holdings will vary and are subject to change without notice.
- The Site isn’t intended to provide you with any insurance, legal, accounting, tax, or medical advice.
Alerts, notifications and service communications
- By creating an account, you automatically sign up for and consent to various types of alerts via email and mobile notification. Anyone with access to your email or mobile device may be able to view these alerts. We never include your password in these communications, but we may include your name or email address.
- We will not send you marketing-oriented materials without your consent, should you choose you may unsubscribe from marketing-oriented emails at any time.
- Please note that unsubscribe requests may take up to 10 business days to process, and you may continue to receive email messages during this period. In addition, you will continue to receive transactional and other email messages from us that are permitted by law after you have unsubscribed.
- All emails identified as being sent from the Site or the Site’s address are sent by Canada Life and may be sent through a third-party service provider.
Electronic delivery
- You consent to receive all documents by electronic delivery, therefore Canada Life will limit sending you any paper copies where possible.
- You may withdraw your consent to receive all documents electronically at any time through the Notifications section of the Site or by contacting Canada Life.
- You understand that an email may be sent to the email address registered with the Site to notify you when a document is made available. You understand that you are responsible to update the registered email address if it changes.
- You understand and agree that it is your responsibility to review the documents on a regular basis and that Canada Life will not be liable for any damages which you may incur as a result of your failure to access and review such documents.
- You acknowledge and agree that documents received by electronic delivery will be deemed to have been delivered at the time it is made available on the Site, and not at the time you first access the document.
- You acknowledge that the documents made available to you through the Site will be in a specific file format and that you must have the appropriate technical resources to access, download or print the documents.
- You understand that any document delivered electronically through the Site will remain accessible for download for a period of time. Canada Life will maintain a file as per its current record retention schedule.
- You understand that in the event of a failed electronic delivery of a document or for any other reason Canada Life deems appropriate, Canada Life will provide you with a paper copy of such document, instead of or in addition to the document for which you have requested electronic delivery.
Cancellation of your account or access to the site
- You may cancel your access to the Site at any time by providing Canada Life at least thirty (30) days' prior written notice.
- If your plan sponsor chooses to withdraw their participation in the Site, your access to it may be removed or limited and you may no longer be able to perform certain functions within the Site.
- Canada Life may cancel any or all of the services provided by, or your access to, the Site at any time without notice to you. Canada Life will not be liable for any loss, damage or inconvenience that may result from cancellation.
Records
- All transaction records for the Site transactions are subject to verification and acceptance by Canada Life. Such records, whether electronic or otherwise will be conclusive and binding on you for all purposes in the absence of clear proof that the records of Canada Life are incomplete or incorrect.
Personal information
At Canada Life we recognize and respect the importance of privacy.
Your personal information:
We establish a confidential file that contains your personal information, including any personal information you submit to the Site, including financial or health information.
Your information is kept in the offices of Canada Life or the offices of an organization authorized by Canada Life.
You may exercise certain rights of access and rectification with respect to the personal information in your file by sending a request in writing to Canada Life.
Who has access to your information:
We limit access to personal information in your file to Canada Life staff or persons authorized by Canada Life who require it to perform their duties and to persons to whom you have granted access.
In order to assist in fulfilling the purposes identified below, we may use service providers located within or outside Canada.
Your personal information may also be subject to disclosure to public authorities or others authorized under applicable law within or outside Canada.
What your information is used for:
Personal information that we collect will be used for the purposes of:
- administering or servicing products or coverage you have with us;
- providing illustrations and recommendations regarding your plans and policies held with Canada Life and third-party providers and your financial security in general;
- advising you of products and services available by Canada Life and its partners, to help you plan for financial security;
- processing any forms and actions throughout this platform, for Canada Life’s and its affiliates’ internal data management and analytics purposes; and
- fulfilling such other purposes as are directly related to the preceding. This may include investigating and assessing claims, paying benefits, and creating and maintaining records concerning our relationship.
The consent given in this Agreement will be valid until we receive written notice that you have withdrawn it, subject to legal and contractual restrictions. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to continue to adjudicate or administer a claim for benefits. You may withdraw your consent to specific uses by going to the Profile Preference section of the Site or more generally by advising Canada Life in writing.
General disclaimer
While the information posted on the Site is believed to be reliable and accurate at the time of posting, Canada Life doesn’t guarantee, represent or warrant that information contained on this website is accurate, complete, reliable, verified, error-free or fit for any purpose.
Nothing on the Site forms a contract, or a part of any contract, other than as it relates to the use of this website, unless directly expressed by Canada Life. In the event of a conflict between the information contained on the Site and the terms contained in any product or services offered by Canada Life or a third party, the terms contained in any document detailing such product or service will prevail.

This Agreement shall be governed by the applicable laws of the province of Manitoba and of Canada. You agree that any legal actions arising under this Agreement must be commenced in Manitoba courts.
If there’s any inconsistency or conflict between the terms and conditions of this Agreement and those of any predecessor agreement offered by Canada Life into which you may have entered, this Agreement will prevail.
This Agreement is binding on you, your heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, successors and assigns.
If any provision of this Agreement is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, everything else in this Agreement will continue in full force and effect.
